Before boarding, purchase your light rail ticket at the ticket vending machines located at light rail stations.  Be sure to have this ticket with you when you board the train. Once the train is under way, a fare inspector will check it.

The RTD light rail system is divided into four fare zones: A, B, C and D. Your fare is determined by the number of zones you travel in for each one-way trip.

Travel in one zone is a local one-way fare of $2.00
Travel in two zones is a local one-way fare of $2.00
Travel in three zone is an express one-way fare of $3.50
Travel in four zones is a regional one-way fare of $4.50

Discount fares apply to seniors ages 65+, riders with disabilities, people on Medicare and students in elementary, middle or high school, ages 6-19. To get these special fares, you must show proof of eligibility when the fare inspector checks your ticket.

The fare zone structure does not apply to RTD bus service or call-n-Ride service.

If you are finishing your trip on an RTD bus, validated light rail tickets serve as transfers when you transfer to a bus route.

RTD offers 10-Ride Ticketbooks and monthly passes that can be purchased in advance, saving you money off regular cash fares.
