EMPOWERCOM
Innovative and competitive are great ways to describe this Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) in 'The Spotlight'. Denver based EMPOWERCOM, Inc. specializes in wireless technology; the company manufactures cable assemblies for the telecommunications industry and runs wire through buildings for telephones, computers and audio, video, security and control systems.
Senior Executive and Co-Founder, Terri Jackson, has been a positive force in the greater Denver business community. She's worked diligently with other manufacturing companies to train and hire previously incarcerated individuals to transition them back into the workforce.
Terri along with her business partner, Steven Jackson, has made EMPOWERCOM a company that embodies new technologies, and innovative strategies to utilize a minority workforce in operating the small business. The company was awarded and completed the ARRA stimulus funded RTD Wireless Implementation Project as a DBE prime contractor. RTD's Senior Manager of Information Technology, Trent Ratcliff expressed that "EMPOWERCOM was very responsive to RTD's needs; she completed the project scope and did a great job." Terri stated, "Companies depend on our expertise to produce the best level of wireless technology needed in the field today, this is why we were able to land the RTD contract, complete the job with the specifications required, and go above and beyond what was expected to produce the best product for the market."
This expertise and high standard of production is the reason why EMPOWERCOM has been selected to participate as the Diamond Partner DBE with Kiewit/Turner Construction on the new Veterans Administration Medical Facility in Aurora.
RTD is proud to highlight EMPOWERCOM as for the 'The Spotlight'. We commend Terri Jackson for her outstanding leadership, and pioneer in the field of information technology. As President of the Black Construction Group of Greater Denver, a Division of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, she's proven to be a strong woman in a field dominated by men.
