Get to know the West Rail Line on the Tour de FasTracks
Tune up your bike and grab your helmet for the Tour de FasTracks West Rail Line bicycle tour on Saturday, September 15. This family-oriented event is a great way to take a leisurely ride on the new bike paths along theWest Rail Line and enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery with other members of the community.
The bike tour will start at the Oak Station, located at 13th Avenue and Oak Street in Lakewood, at 9 a.m. and end at the Decatur/Federal Station in Denver. Beverages will be provided at multiple stops along the route as well as lunch at the end of the tour, where you can learn more about the line, destinations, safety tips, and tour a light rail train.
Dry Creek Station’s parking lot to undergo repairs
From September 4 to October 30, RTD will make necessary improvements to our Dry Creek Station parking lot. The repairs will affect 2 to 4 parking spaces for 2 to 3 days at a time as we repair the concrete surface of the lot. On September 24, we will begin resurfacing the entire upper deck in five phases, affecting 60 to 70 parking spaces during each phase.
As an option, during this time, we suggest parking in the east lot (not at Park Meadows) at the County Line Station. Parking may also be available at the Belleview, Arapahoe at Village Center, Colorado, University of Denver, and I-25 & Broadway stations. We ask for your patience during this repair project, as we make improvements to benefit all of our riders.
Get in the game with BuffRide to Folsom Field
Are you ready for college football? Get in the game with RTD’s BuffRide bus service to all CU Buffaloes home football games at Folsom Field. With direct service from many Park-n-Rides and light rail stations, you can join the fans cheering the most convenient way to the game.
And, if you wouldn’t dream of missing the annual CU vs. CSU football game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on September 1, then catch RTD’s special bus service from many Park-n-Ride locations or take the train to the game.
Celebrate German culture at Oktoberfest Denver
Come out and celebrate one of Denver’s longest running festivals, Oktoberfest, from September 21 to 30, between 20th and 22nd on Larimer in Denver’s Ballpark Neighborhood. This week-long event commemorates German heritage and includes music, dance, bier-based activities, authentic cuisine and entertainment the whole family can enjoy.
And with frequent service to downtown from 26 stations across the metro area, light rail is the affordable, fast, and convenient way to this year’s festivities.
Rock n’ Roll Marathon rocks for charity
Run or bike for a cause on Saturday, September 22 when you enter the Rock n’ Roll Marathon. The marathon has been partnering with team charities since 1998 to raise more than $266 million for different charities across the nation. Enjoy live bands, cheerleaders, and themed water stations as you run through beautiful parks and great neighborhoods.
And, if you would rather ride than run, a bike tour has been added to this year’s event. The 26.2-mile marathon, half-marathon and 24-mile bike tour will start and finish at Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. The bike tour will kick-off the event at 5:30 a.m. and cyclists from all skill levels are welcome to participate.
As a result of the race, expect some delays and detours in bus service along the race course between the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the following routes 0, 1, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15/15L, 16/16L, 20, 24, 28, 32, 38, 44, 48, 52, 83L, AF, B, and the FREE MallRide.
Tip of the month
If Denver’s your home, then you know it’s great to be a sports fan in the Mile High City. With six professional sports teams – football, basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse – we’ve got it all, and RTD gives you great transit alternatives to the games of your choice. So the next time you’re headed to a game, check out how our sports rides, regular bus service or light rail can get you there.
Operators of the month, Matt Impellitteri and Dino Andrew
Each month, RTD encourages passengers to nominate a bus driver or light rail operator who goes above and beyond to make their experience memorable. This month’s winning nomination goes to light rail H line operator, Matt Impellitteri and yardmaster, Dino Andrew. The H travels north and south from the Nine Mile Station to downtown Denver. Their nomination was submitted by Mary Nicholson, who was impressed with Matt and Dino’s caring attitude and outstanding customer service. Read more about Matt and Dino.
Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.
