Quotes

Below are approved quotes about the R Line from Dave Genova, RTD General Manager and CEO, Larry Hoy, Chair, RTD Board of Directors, and Steve Hogan, Mayor, City of Aurora. To request an interview or more information, please contact our Public Relations Department.

“The R Line is a signature project for RTD, the City of Aurora, and our region,” said RTD General Manager and CEO Dave Genova. “The line is significant in that it completes another important connection and mobility opportunity on the eastern side of the metro area, connecting commuters to important destinations throughout the line. RTD has successfully operated light rail trains for over twenty years and being able to provide additional light rail service when the R Line opens is very exciting.”

“We are pleased to open this important line that will complete 22 miles from Lone Tree to Aurora,” said RTD Board Chair Larry Hoy. “This is one more option we can offer passengers for reaching places where they can work, play, and live."

“The R Line is a testament to what can be accomplished when cities, RTD and stakeholders and businesses work together,” said RTD General Manger and CEO Dave Genova. “It is thanks to these partnerships that we are opening this line that will connect riders from Aurora to the Denver metro area.”

“Light rail will transform Aurora,” said Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan. “This is not just a train line running through a part of our community. This rail line traverses the core of the city, and when it opens on Friday, February 24, it will truly connect the entire metropolitan region to Aurora.”
