Changes impacting your service

Starting April 24, 2016, RTD’s new University of Colorado A Line from Union Station to Denver International Airport will open for service. With the implementation of the first commuter rail line in the metro area and resulting changes to bus service in the area, RTD will be able to provide improved connectivity, better travel times, and streamlined bus service that will meet the transit needs of our customers. The April service change also includes some changes that are unrelated to the opening of the University of Colorado A Line.

These service changes take effect on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

Changes for Rail lines

  • University of Colorado A Line new

    New rail service will be introduced between Union Station in Downtown Denver and Denver Airport Station at Denver International Airport. Service will be available 7 days a week from 3:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., with 15 minute frequency provided from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and 30 minute frequency all other times.

    Stops will be made at Union Station, 38th & Blake Station, 40th & Colorado Station, Central Park Station, Peoria Station, 40th & Airport - Gateway Park Station, 61st & Peña Station, and Denver Airport Station. Six of the eight stops serve Park-n-Rides offering 4,329 parking spaces. Trains will cover the 22.8 mile trip in roughly 37 minutes, reaching top speeds of 79 mph.

Changes for Local/Limited bus routes

  • route 0

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 1W

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 6

    Service will be split into two routes. Service north of downtown Denver will become route 19 on North Pecos. Service on east 6th Avenue will remain route 6. Revised service will serve the Auraria Campus and end at 12th and Larimer. Late evening service will be extended until 11:15 p.m.

  • route 10

    Service will be discontinued east of the Community College of Aurora to Buckley Air Force Base. Service to Buckley will be replaced with the new route 157. The new east end of line location will be the Community College of Aurora – Centre Tech Campus.

  • route 11

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued. Sunday/holiday service will be extended to 9:30 p.m.

  • route 12

    Service will connect with the new University of Colorado A Line at the 38th & Blake Station with new stops located on 38th Street (northbound) and on Walnut Street (southbound).

  • route 15

    The downtown Denver end of line will move from 12th and Larimer streets (Auraria Campus) to the Union Station bus concourse. Eastbound trips will operate via 18th Street, Blake Street, and 17th Street. Westbound trips will operate via 15th Street, Lawrence Street, and 18th Street.

  • route 16

    Service to 10th and Broadway will be discontinued. Trips starting or ending at 10th and Broadway will instead start or end at Civic Center Station.

  • route 19 new

    This new route will replace route 6 service on North Pecos Street between downtown Denver and Northglenn. The route end of line will be near the Colorado Convention Center at 13th and Welton streets.

  • route 21

    Sunday/holiday frequency will increase from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes between Centrepoint & Sable Transit Center and the Evans Station.

  • route 24

    The route deviation via Race Street and Davies Avenue at the Streets of Southglenn will be discontinued. The deviation via 47th Avenue through the Swansea and Elyria neighborhoods will also be discontinued. Service will operate directly east on 40th Avenue from York Street to the new 40th & Colorado Station for connections with the new University of Colorado A Line. Replacement service in the Swansea and Elyria neighborhoods will be provided by rerouted route 44 service, which will operate on the same streets.

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 28

    Service will be retained east of downtown Denver to Central Park Station with service adjustments. Weekday service will be provided every 30 minutes in each direction, from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Weekend service will not be provided east of downtown Denver. Alternate service will be provided by route 43 on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.

  • route 30L

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 31

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 32

    Weekday service will be discontinued between 22nd and 9th avenues along Colorado Boulevard, eliminating the duplication of service with route 40.

  • route 33

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 34 new

    This new route will replace route 38 service east of downtown Denver to Central Park Station. Service will operate only between 30th & Downing Station and Central Park Station, and will operate via Holly Street and Smith Road to Central Park Station to serve the Denver Rescue Mission at Smith and Kearney. Service west of the 30th & Downing Station to downtown Denver will be provided by the extended route 43 and D line service, operating via Stout and California streets.

    Additionally, the current route 38 passengers between Holly and Quebec on 38th Avenue may use route 34 service on Smith Road or route 43 on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.

  • route 37new

    This new route will replace service on route 40 on 49th Avenue, route 44 on 40th Avenue, and route 153 on Smith Road. Rush-hour service will be provided to the industrial areas along Smith Road, and will operate between the Peoria Station and 40th & Airport Blvd/Gateway Park Station via Smith Road, Sable, Moncrieff, 32nd Avenue, Airport Boulevard, and Salida Street.

    Service will be extended west from Peoria Station via Smith Road, Havana Street, 40th Avenue, and Central Park Boulevard to Central Park Station. West of Central Park Station, the route will replace route 40 service via Quebec Street, 48th/49th avenues and Colorado Boulevard to the 40th & Colorado Station. Service between Central Park Station and 40th & Colorado Station will be provided during rush-hours only. Service east of Central Park Station to Peoria Station and 40th Ave & Airport Blvd/Gateway Park Station will be provided weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • route 38

    Service east of downtown Denver to the Central Park Station will be replaced by new route 34. Service west of downtown Denver on 38th Avenue will remain the same using current routing.

  • route 40

    Service will be rerouted via 40th Avenue and Jackson Street to serve the 40th & Colorado Station for connections with the new University of Colorado A Line. Rush-hour service east of Dahlia Street via 40th and 49th avenues to Central Park Station will be discontinued. Service along 48th and 49th avenues through the Stapleton industrial area will be provided with select rush-hour trips on route 37 between 40th & Colorado Station and Central Park Station.

  • route 42 new

    This new route will replace route 43 service east of Central Park Station to Montbello and Green Valley Ranch. Service will operate via Central Park Boulevard, 46th Avenue and Willow Street, serving the Shops at Northfield, then resume on the existing route 43 alignment via 47th Avenue, through Montbello via Albrook Drive, 46th Avenue, 40th Avenue to the 40th Avenue & Airport Boulevard/Gateway Park Station. Service will continue east to Green Valley Ranch and will operate via Salida Street, Tower Road, 45th Avenue, Flanders, 47th Street, Himalaya, 42nd Avenue, Malaya Street, Green Valley Ranch Boulevard, and Orleans Street to Maxwell Place. Service will operate every 15 minutes during weekday rush hours, and every 30 minutes at all other times. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

  • route 43

    Service will be restructured to a high-frequency and direct service between Central Park Station, northeast Denver, and downtown Denver. Service will be extended to operate into downtown Denver via Stout and California streets to replace existing service on route 38. Service will not deviate into the 30th & Downing Station, passengers wanting to connect with the D line may make connections on street or downtown along Stout and California streets. Service east of Central Park Station to Montbello and Green Valley Ranch will be replaced by new route 42. Rush-hour and midday service will operate every 15 minutes, and every 30 minutes at all other times. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

  • route 44

    Service east of the 40th & Colorado Station will be discontinued. Alternate service on Smith Road to the Denver Rescue Mission will be provided by new route 34. Service through Montbello will be provided by new route 45. Service will be rerouted via York Street, 47th and 46th avenues, and Steele Street to 40th Avenue, which will replace route 24 service in the Swansea and Elyria neighborhoods.

  • route 45

    Existing routes 44 and 45 service through Montbello will be merged into one route, as route 45. This new route will originate at the Peoria Station, then operate via Peoria, Albrook Drive, Tulsa Court, Andrews Drive, Crown Boulevard serving Montbello High School, 51st Avenue and Gateway Boulevard to Chambers Road and 53rd Avenue, and the continue to the 40th Avenue & Airport Boulevard/Gateway Park Station. Service will continue east to Green Valley Ranch, and will operate via Salida Street, Tower Road, Green Valley Ranch Boulevard, Himalaya, 56th Avenue, Ireland, and Maxwell Place to Orleans Street. Rush-hour service will operate every 15 minutes and every 30 minutes at all other times. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

  • route 50

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 52

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 54 discontinued

    Service will be discontinued due to low ridership. Alternate service will be provided by route 42 on 47th Avenue and route 121 on Peoria Street.

  • route 65

    Weekday service south of Ulster/Tufts along DTC Boulevard and Yosemite Street to the Arapahoe at Village Center Station will be discontinued, due to low ridership. Alternate service will be provided by the E and F lines and the Arapahoe, Belleview and Orchard Call-n-Rides.

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 73

    The deviation through Lowry via 11th Avenue, Yosemite Street, and Lowry Boulevard will be discontinued. Alternate service will be provided by route 10 on 11th Avenue, and route 6 on Lowry Boulevard. Service south of Ulster/Tufts along Quebec and Syracuse streets to the Arapahoe at Village Center Station will be discontinued due to low ridership. Alternate service will be provided by the E and F lines and the Arapahoe, Belleview and Orchard Call-n-Rides. The south end of line will be extended to the Belleview Station via Belleview Avenue.

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 89

    Schedule adjustments will be made for connections with the new University of Colorado A Line at Central Park Station.

  • route 90L

    Rush-hour service will operate between US 36 & Sheridan Station and Civic Center Station from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rush-hour frequency will be approximately every 20 minutes.

  • route 105

    Weekday early morning service will begin at 3:00 a.m.

  • route 121

    Weekday service between Nine Mile Station and Ulster/Tufts will be discontinued due to low ridership. The deviation via Quentin Street in the Anschutz Medical Campus will be discontinued, and service will operate directly on Peoria Street. Passengers may transfer at Peoria and Colfax to routes 15 or 15L for access to the campus. The deviation east to Sable Boulevard via 30th Avenue and Smith Road through Morris Heights will be discontinued. Service will operate directly north to 33rd Avenue, then to the Peoria Station for connections with the new University of Colorado A Line. Alternate service on 30th Avenue through the Morris Heights neighborhood will be provided by route 153. Weekday service on Smith Road will be provided by new route 37.

    Service will be extended through Montbello, replacing route 153. Service will operate via Peoria, 49th, Uvalda, Maxwell Place, Chambers Road, and 40th Avenue to the 40th Avenue & Airport Boulevard/Gateway Park Station. Weekday midday frequency will increase from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes between Peoria Station and Nine Mile Station. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

  • route 130

    Service north of the future Aurora Metro Center Station (Centrepoint & Sable Transfer Center) to the Community College of Aurora will be replaced by new route 157. Route 130H service on Marina Drive through Heather Gardens will be discontinued due to low ridership. Alternate service will be provided by route 130 on Yale Avenue. Passengers at the office complex and hotel near Parker Road are within walking distance of Nine Mile Station. Weekday evening service will be extended to 11:00 p.m. in both directions.

  • route 133

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 135

    Weekend service will begin one hour earlier with the addition of a 5:12 a.m. westbound trip.

  • route 153

    Service north of Sable and 30th will be discontinued. Service will operate west on 30th Avenue serving the Morris Heights neighborhood, and end at the Peoria Station for connections with the new University of Colorado A Line. Service along Smith Road and Airport Boulevard will be replaced by new route 37. Service through Montbello on Maxwell Place and 51st Avenue will be replaced by extended route 121. Sunday/holiday service will increase from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

    Select weekday trips between Arapahoe Crossing and the Parker Park-n-Ride will be discontinued. Service will be replaced by new route 483, which will operate between Lincoln Station, Parker Park-n-Ride, Arapahoe Crossing, and Nine Mile Station.

  • route 157 new

    This new route will replace route 130 service between the future Aurora Metro Center Station (Centrepoint & Sable Transfer Center) and the Community College of Aurora. Service will operate via Chambers Road, 1st Avenue, and Centretech Drive. Service will continue via Centretech, Airport Boulevard, and 6th Avenue to Buckley Air Force Base, replacing route 10 service. Service into Buckley Air Force Base will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Service to the Community College of Aurora will operate until 9:30 p.m.

  • route 169 new

    This new route will operate on Buckley Road between Arapahoe Crossing Shopping Center and 40th Avenue & Airport Boulevard/Gateway Park Station. Service will operate seven days per week, with weekday service every 30 minutes and weekend/evening service every 60 minutes. Service will be provided from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

  • route 169L

    Service will be retained with direct service to Denver International Airport with current schedule and frequency.

  • route 206/206F

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 208/208F

    Seasonal school service will be discontinued.

  • route 225

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 324

    Weekend service hours will be extended. Service will be provided from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. instead of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday service will be added from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will match current Saturday hourly service.

  • route 402L

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 410

    Service will be replaced by new route 483, which will provide all-day expanded service between Lincoln Station, Parker Park-n-Ride, and Nine Mile Station.

  • route 483 new

    This new route will replace service on routes 153 and 410. Service will operate between Parker and Arapahoe Crossing Shopping Center, and will operate north to Nine Mile Station for connections with the H line and future R line replacing route 153 service. This new route will also replace route 410 service between Parker Road and Lincoln Station. Weekday service will operate every 60 minutes. Rush-hour frequency will be every 30 minutes between the Parker Park-n-Ride and Lincoln Station.

    Summer schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route DASH

    Summer schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route JUMP

    Summer schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route STAMPEDE

    Summer schedule adjustments will be made.

  • Free MallRide

    Weekend service will be rerouted to 15th and 17th streets using Free MetroRide buses for 16th Street Mall events.

Changes for Regional Routes

  • route 47X discontinued

    Service will be discontinued and replaced by the new University of Colorado A Line and improved Local bus route service in the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods.

  • route 120X

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route 122X

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route AB

    Service will be rerouted via US 36 & Flatiron Station inside the Park-n-Ride along westbound US 36, Northwest Parkway and E-470, to Peña Boulevard and onto Denver International Airport. Service will continue to be provided at US 36 & Table Mesa and US 36 & McCaslin stations. The AB will no longer stop at US 36 & Broomfield Station or US 36 & Sheridan Station.

  • route AF discontinued

    Service will be discontinued. Alternate service will be provided by new University of Colorado A Line.

  • route AS discontinued

    Service will be discontinued. Alternate service will be provided by new University of Colorado A Line.

  • route AT

    Service will continue between Arapahoe at Village Center Station, Nine Mile Station and Denver International Airport, and will operate every 60 minutes. Short-trips between Colfax and Billings, 40th Avenue & Airport Boulevard/Gateway Park Station and Denver International Airport will be discontinued. Alternate service will be provided by the new University of Colorado A Line. In addition, one early morning northbound trip designated as route ATA will serve the 40th & Airport Station for service to Denver International Airport before the University of Colorado A Line service begins.

  • route RX

    Afternoon rush-hour service will be rerouted via 20th Street to northbound I-25 HOV lanes, 70th Avenue, Highway 224, 74th Avenue to Vasquez Boulevard and then continue on current routing via US 85 to Brighton. Stops along Park Avenue West at Blake Street and Delgany will no longer be served, and a new stop will be added at 20th Street and Larimer.

Changes for Flatiron Flyer

  • route FF1/FF2/FF3/FF5/FF6

    Schedule adjustments will be made.

  • route FF4

    Morning and evening rush-hour service in both directions will no longer serve the US 36 & Sheridan Station. Alternate service will be provided by route 90L.

Changes for Call-N-Ride Service

  • Belmar discontinued

    Service will be discontinued due to low ridership.

  • Broomfield

    Service boundaries will be expanded on the north from 136th Avenue to approximately 144th Avenue and on the east from Sheridan to Zuni.

  • Golden

    The School of Mines Student Housing will no longer be served and the flex route will be rerouted from US 6 and 19th Street for approximately 18 months due to the construction project at US 6 and 19th Street. Service will be rerouted to South Golden Road and Ford Street to 19th Street on the east to serve the campus.

  • Superior new

    This new service is scheduled to start in May 2016. The new Call-n-Ride boundaries will be approximately at US 36 on the north, McCaslin Boulevard on the west, Interlocken Loop on the south, and Flatiron Market Place on the east. Weekday service will operate on from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from the US 36 & McCaslin Station.

Changes for Park-n-Rides and Stations

  • Montbello Park-n-Ride discontinued

    The Montbello Park-n-Ride at Albrook and Peoria will permanently close on April 24, 2016. Parking, bus service and passenger connections to the new University of Colorado A Line will be relocated to the new Peoria Station located at 33rd and Moline (west of Peoria Street on 33rd Avenue). Montbello neighborhood bus routes 45 and 121 will also serve the Peoria Station.

  • 38th & Blake Station new

    The new 38th & Blake Station will serve routes 12 and 44 and the new University of Colorado A Line. This new Park-n-Ride located at 38th and Blake Street will provide 200 parking spaces.

  • 40th & Colorado Station new

    The new 40th & Colorado Station will serve routes 24, 37, 40 and 44, and the new University of Colorado A Line. This new Park-n-Ride located at 40th and Jackson Street will provide 200 parking spaces.

  • Central Park Station

    The Central Park Station is an existing Park-n-Ride that will serve routes 28, 34, 37, 42, 43, 65, 73, 88, 89, and 105, and the new University of Colorado A Line. This Park-n-Ride located at Smith Road and Uinta Street provides 1,500 parking spaces.

  • Peoria Station new

    The new Peoria Station will serve routes 37, 45, 121, and 153 and the new University of Colorado A Line. This new Park-n-Ride located at 33rd and Moline will provide 550 parking spaces.

  • 40th & Airport - Gateway Park Station

    The 40th Ave & Airport Blvd/Gateway Park Station is an existing Park-n-Ride that will serve routes 37, 42, 45, 121, and 169, and the new University of Colorado A Line. This Park-n-Ride located at 40th and Airport Boulevard provides 1,079 parking spaces.

  • 61st & Peña Station new

    The new 61st and Peña Station will serve the new University of Colorado A Line. This new Park-n-Ride located at 61st and Peña will provide 800 parking spaces.

  • Denver Airport Station new

    The new Denver Airport Station will serve routes 145X, 169L, AA, AB, and AT and the new University of Colorado A Line. This station located at Denver International Airport is adjacent to the new Westin Hotel at the south end of the main Jeppesen Terminal, and includes facilities for both rail and bus passengers. Buses will no longer serve the stop at West Terminal, Level 5.
