To our riders: thank you
This last year has been difficult. Due to the operator shortage, we had to cancel trips often with little notice. This was a major inconvenience, particularly for light rail commuters. With the COVID-19 pandemic, ridership has declined 70%, necessitating a 40% reduction in service. We sincerely regret the inconvenience.
Please know that we have not forgotten that our mission is to provide “public transit needs by providing safe, clean, reliable, courteous, accessible and cost-effective service throughout the District.” This means getting you, our riders, to your stops when you are expecting to get there. We want you to know that we appreciate your patronage and thank you for only riding for essential trips right now. As the situation continues to evolve so will we with the safety of our passengers and employees to of mind. We look forward to seeing more of you again, wearing your colorful masks, as restrictions loosen because of progress made against COVID-19.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding. Stay safe and we’ll see you aboard soon.
