Back to school plans during COVID-19

The end of August signals the start of school for thousands of students across the metro area. It’s typically the time for back-to-school shopping, learning who your teacher will be and getting ready for colder weather.

This year looks very different from previous years. School districts have not finalized plans for remote and/or in-person learning, and RTD is currently operating on a pandemic service plan. Regardless of what school districts determine, RTD will be prepared to make modifications to service once notice is received for in-classroom studies. Many students rely on RTD to get to school and with the need for social distancing, extra buses and trains may be required to accommodate extra passengers. With safety as a core value for RTD, staff will continue to implement the highest cleaning standards and require employees and riders to wear masks while providing space for social distancing. RTD asks customers to be partners in safety by adhering to good hand-washing hygiene, staying six feet apart from other passengers and wearing a mask.
