New shields are an important safety tool created by RTD staff to protect against COVID-19
Static sprayers and super shields? These aren’t the latest tools in a superhero’s arsenal, but the latest in what RTD is doing to protect our passengers and employees during a pandemic. Last week, we introduced our state-of-the-art electrostatic sprayers. Today, we introduce the second of our latest tools: operator shields.
Through the omnicompetent RTD Body Shop, our innovative and skilled team members are doing everything themselves. RTD’s Body Shop team designed and manufactured each part, including the brackets and the actual shields. Employees are now installing the see-through shields on all RTD buses. As of Aug. 12, crews have installed 43% on our buses and aim to install nine per day. The shields are made from 3/8-inch-thick polycarbonate, a clear product that provides maximum visibility.
