Public transportation has been deemed an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic and RTD continues to provide bus, rail and Access-a-Ride services as a link between work, medical services, grocery stores and home.

It is during these difficult times, RTD wants to encourage riders seeking an income-based discount on regular fares to apply for RTD’s LiVE Program, which offers a 40 percent discount on RTD fares to those who qualify. To qualify, an individual has to be between the ages of 20 and 64, have a household income at or below 185% of the Federal poverty level, and live within the RTD service area. Learn more about the program and what you need to apply on the LiVE page.

Applications for the LiVE Program are accepted and processed through the State of Colorado PEAK website for benefits. Denver Human Services (DHS) normally provides in-person application assistance. With state and local closures in effect, RTD LiVE applications have moved to online and phone applications.

RTD riders interested in applying for the LiVE Program can enroll in one of the following ways:

1. Apply online 24/7 at https://coloradopeak.secure.force.com/

OR

2. Apply by phone: call DHS at 720-944-4DHS (4347) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

3. Important: Due to closure of offices, make sure to include a mailing address during the application process to avoid delays.

LiVE uses the state’s PEAK system and Denver Human Services to evaluate eligibility and process applications, which allows applicants to apply for other benefits at the same time, including food, cash, medical, and child care assistance.

Approved applicants receive the LiVE Discount proof of eligibility card by mail. With this card, riders have the flexibility to use a MyRide smart card or a mobile 3-hour pass or a day pass on the RTD Mobile Tickets app. LiVE MyRide smart cards can be purchased and reloaded online, at RTD sales outlets, and at local King Soopers and Safeway stores.

The LiVE Program was launched in July 2019 and adds to the other discount programs offered by RTD. The program is now being used by over 5,000 enrolled riders. “Having this (LiVE Discount) card has made a big difference for me.” Says LiVE user Christopher G. “It has made me able to go out more and take care of the things I need to take care of. It is so much more affordable and I love the day pass option.”

If you do not qualify for the LiVE Program, there are other discount options to explore. RTD offers discounts for seniors 65+, youth (ages 6-19), and individuals with disabilities. Click here for information on all of the RTD discount programs.
