¡Viva! Streets Denver event on Sunday to cause temporary detours, delays for RTD routes
Some RTD bus and rail services will experience detours from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, and the L Line light rail will not operate due to the ¡Viva! Streets! event in downtown Denver.
¡Viva! Streets Denver is a free community event series that celebrates Denver's vibrant neighborhoods and supports local business with temporary car-free streets. Over four Sundays from May through August, approximately 3.5 miles of downtown streets will close to cars and open to people as the city celebrates a “ciclovia,” or “bike parkway,” aimed at encouraging physical activity and fostering civic pride. The first three events were held May 14, June 4 and July 9.
The upcoming ¡Viva! Streets Denver event will take place Aug. 6 and will temporarily affect RTD bus and rail routes that run along and across Broadway from Alameda to 20th Street and Welton Street from 20th Street to Five Points.
Bus routes:
The following bus routes will be temporarily detoured in many areas and will be allowed to cross the community event route when possible: 0, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 19, 28, 48, 52, 83 and the 16th Street Free MallRide shuttle.
Rail routes:
Service on the D and H Lines will not be affected. The L line will not operate on Aug. 6 due to the ¡Viva! Streets Denver event. Customers are encouraged to explore bus Route 43 as an alternative service.
Customers using routes affected by the ¡Viva! Streets Denver event should expect delays and detours, which may affect scheduled connecting bus and rail trips. Check the RTD website before traveling for schedules and to plan a trip.

During the months of July and August, RTD will offer zero fares across the entire system as part of the Zero Fare for Better Air initiative. This collaborative, statewide initiative is made possible by Colorado Senate Bill 22-180, the ozone season transit grant program in partnership with the Colorado Energy Office.
