¡Viva! Streets Denver event to cause temporary detours, delays for RTD routes
Some RTD bus services will experience detours from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. and the L Line light rail will not operate on Sunday, June 4, due to the ¡Viva! Streets! event in downtown Denver.
¡Viva! Streets Denver is a free community event series that celebrates Denver's vibrant neighborhoods and supports local business with temporary car-free streets. Over four Sundays from May through August, approximately 3.5 miles of downtown streets will close to cars and open to people as the city celebrates a “ciclovia,” or “bike parkway,” aimed at encouraging physical activity and fostering civic pride. The first event was held on Sunday, May 14.
Upcoming ¡Viva! Streets Denver events will take place June 4, July 9 and Aug. 6 and may temporarily affect RTD bus and rail routes that run along and across Broadway from Alameda to 20th Street and Welton Street from 20th Street to Five Points.
Bus routes:
The following bus routes will be temporarily detoured in many areas and will be allowed to cross the community event route when possible: 0, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 19, 28, 48, 52, 83 and the 16th Street Free MallRide shuttle.
Rail routes:
The L line will not operate on Sunday. Customers can explore bus Route 43 as an alternative. Service on the D and H Lines will not be affected.
Customers using routes affected by the ¡Viva! Streets Denver event should expect delays and detours, which may affect scheduled connecting bus and rail trips. Check the RTD website before traveling for schedules and to plan a trip.
Customers are encouraged to use RTD’s Next Ride web app to view schedules, plan trips, see vehicle locations in real time, and sign up for Service Alerts.
