Every day, activities such as traffic patterns, economic factors, ridership, and customer feedback affect our transit system. We evaluate service and propose changes to maximize resources, reduce duplication, and make better connections. Like many transit systems, we are facing challenges from COVID-19, including significantly reduced ridership and budget shortfalls. As a result, the following service changes are being implemented in January of 2021.
These service changes took effect on January 10, 2021.
Final Changes for Local/Limited Bus Routes
Vehicle assignment changes are being made to improve passenger capacity.
Running time adjustments are being made to improve on-time performance.

Service levels are being increased to address capacity shortfalls.
Saturday and Sunday service frequency is being reduced from every 30 minutes to every 60 minutes.
Western segment of route is being shortened at Wadsworth Blvd/26th Avenue to interline with Route 32. Route 28 will no longer provide service west of Wadsworth Blvd to Ward Road. Eastern segment of route is extended from current terminal at 21st/Curtis to the 30th•Downing light rail station. This route now provides service along Washington St and Clarkson St, including to the Safeway and the senior high rises around 21st/Clarkson, then east on 22nd Avenue and north on Downing St. Schedule adjustments also made to improve on-time performance.
Service levels are being increased to address capacity shortfalls.
Schedule adjustments are being made associated with interline with Route 28.
Schedule adjustments are being made to improve on-time performance, and to improve connections with the L Line at 30th•Downing station.

Weekend service hours are being reduced through elimination of the last three trips on Saturday evenings.

Due to low ridership, route is being discontinued between Lookout Rd/Gunpark and Heatherwood/Devonshire.
Due to low ridership, midday service frequency on weekdays and weekends is being reduced from every 30 minutes to every 60 minutes. Saturday and Sunday service hours are being reduced to 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Due to low ridership, service hours are being reduced to 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. FlexRide is available within Louisville, Superior and the Interlocken/Broomfield area to provide earlier service.
Evening service frequency is being reduced from 7.5 minutes to 15 minutes. Weekday morning rush-hour service frequency is being increased to every 6 minutes.
Final Changes for Regional Bus Routes
Peak trips added to relieve overcrowding between Nine Mile and Denver Airport stations.
Route suspended due to very low ridership. Groups of 4 or more are encouraged to use the following vanpool programs. If you live and/or travel within the RTD service area, you may be eligible to receive a substantial subsidy to cover most of the cost.

Final Changes for Rail
Due to higher demand to central downtown Denver, C Line service is being suspended and D Line service reinstated. Adjustments will allow for northbound transfers toward Union Station, and southbound transfers toward Littleton•Mineral at I-25•Broadway.

Weekday service frequency is as follows: every 30 minutes from 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.; 15 minutes from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.; and 30 minutes from 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Due to low demand south of Lincoln, the southernmost terminal is being shifted from RidgeGate Parkway to Lincoln. Service hours are adjusted to 4:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., with 30-minute frequency for weekdays and weekends.

Weekday service frequency between JeffCo Gov’t Center•Golden and Union Station will be 30 minutes from 4:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Weekday service frequency between Federal Center and Union Station will be 30 minutes from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
