RTD is proposing service changes for September 2023 to increase reliability, improve on-time performance, address changing travel needs, and support the agency’s System Optimization Plan.

Proposed Changes for Local/Limited Bus Routes
It is proposed to adjust the current weekday and weekend schedules to increase on-time performance.
It is proposed to reinstate seasonal school-tripper service.
As outlined in the System Optimization Plan (SOP) it is proposed to split Route 16 in to two distinct service patterns, Route 16 and Route 17.
The new Route 16 would operate between 16th Ave/Lincoln Street and Federal Center Station. While Route 17 will service Federal Center Station and 10th Street/Washington Ave in Golden, CO.
While this proposal would reduce midday service between Oak Station and Downtown Golden on weekends, on-time performance on West Colfax would improve. The proposal would also increase opportunities for transfers at Federal Center Station.

Route 16:
Weekdays: 15-min from 4 a.m. – 7 p.m.
30-min from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Saturday: 15-min from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
30-min from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Sunday: 15-min from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
30-min from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Route 17:
Weekdays: 15-min from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
30-min from 7 p.m. – midnight
Saturday: 30-min from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
60-min from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Sunday: 30-min from 5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
60-min from 7 p.m. – midnight
It is proposed to adjust the current weekday and weekend schedules to increase on-time performance.

As outlined in the System Optimization Plan, it is proposed to expand operating hours to improve service reliability. Weekday service would run from 5 a.m. to midnight and weekend service 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. School-tripper service would also be reinstated.
It is proposed to make schedule adjustments to better serve shift times at Colorado Center for the Blind.
The following trips would be discontinued per low ridership:
Weekdays: 5:17am and 10:10pm (eastbound), 10:09pm and 11:09pm (westbound)
Weekends: 9:55pm and 10:55pm (eastbound), 10:41pm and 11:41pm (westbound)
As outlined in the System Optimization Plan, it is proposed to streamline the southern portion of the route to serve Belleview Station via Union Blvd. Service frequency improvements outlined in the SOP will be added when workforce resources are available.
The reinstatement of school-tripper service, and performing a running-time analysis, are also proposed.

As outlined in the System Optimization Plan, it is proposed to shorten the southern portion of the route at Southmoor Station while also increasing midday service on Sundays to 15-minute frequency based on increased ridership.
It is proposed to reroute all trips into the Wagon Road Park-n-Ride to allow to improve bus network connectivity and increase transit network access.
As outlined in the System Optimization Plan (SOP), it is proposed to implement 15-minute service on Saturdays south of Peoria Station, with every other trip continuing to the 40th Ave & Airport Blvd•Gateway Park Station. While recommended in the SOP, adjustments to weekday service are not being proposed at this time. Running-time analysis to be performed.

Proposed Changes for Regional Bus Routes
It is proposed to adjust the current weekday schedules to increase on-time performance.
As outlined in the System Optimization Plan, it is proposed to reinstate four northbound trips (7:02 a.m., 8:22 a.m., 3:48 p.m., 5:10 p.m.) between Federal Center Station and Downtown Boulder Station.
It is also proposed to reinstate four southbound trips (7:00 a.m., 8:19 a.m., 3:48 p.m., 5:13 p.m.) between Downtown Boulder Station and Federal Center Station.
It is proposed to make a seasonal adjustment to extend trips to Eldora Ski Resort to allow for trips while resort is operating in winter.
Per a running-time analysis, it is proposed to adjust the current weekday schedules to increase on-time performance.
Proposed Changes for Rail
It is proposed to adjust the current schedule to improve connectivity with the W Line.
It is proposed to employ a running-time analysis aimed at improving on-time performance.
