RTD will soon have a new bus wrapped in vibrant art work to celebrate the community’s diversity and promote inclusion. May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, and RTD is honoring the achievements and cultural diversity of the AANHPI community in the Denver metro area with a specially designed bus. The newly wrapped bus will be part of the agency’s regular service and deployed on routes across the entire district through 2024.

RTD collaborated with Colorado AANHPI-serving organizations to solicit input on potential bus designs. The bus artwork collectively highlights many cultures of the AANHPI people in the community.

RTD’s team surveyed organizational leaders about the designs and incorporated feedback prior to producing the final wrap. The community’s input ensured that the bus wrap was inclusive and representative of the AANHPI communities in Colorado.

“I am excited to see this newly minted bus wrap. It’s such a unique and awe-inspiring way to celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander identities through art, culture and community,” said Carl Green Jr., RTD’s Civil Rights Director. “This is just one way to foster connection, spark dialogue and show appreciation for the cultural richness of the AANHPI community. As a Filipino-African American, this is extremely important, as I have a profound love for my heritage and strong roots in the Philippines culture.”

This is one of three culturally diverse buses that will be dedicated this year. Other wraps to be debuted in 2024 include a bus celebrating Pride and another for Hispanic Heritage. Each bus illustrates RTD's commitment to making lives better through connections within the communities served by RTD.
