Introducing RTD Gives
Formerly called Operation Give-a-Gift, RTD is reintroducing its donation activities under a new look and name: RTD Gives.
Building upon the success of the more recent National Volunteer Month donation drive in April, Communications and Engagement launches RTD Gives this month, benefiting Broomfield-based nonprofit A Precious Child.
A Precious Child partners with 300 agencies to serve those in need living in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Weld counties.
RTD Gives will collect new, unused winter clothing items for children and adults. Examples of these in-kind donations are mittens, gloves, scarves, beanies, socks and coats that have not been worn and contain their tags.
Donation boxes will be provided to every RTD facility to collect donations. Community Engagement Specialist Gabriel Martinez will contact and confirm donation box and donation poster delivery for each facility prior to Nov. 14.
The boxes are provided for all departments housed at each division to contribute. For example, boxes provided to District Shops can be used by all employees in Bus Maintenance, Transit Police and Facilities Maintenance. All departments are encouraged to collaborate to stuff the donation boxes with new and unused winter clothing. Facilities with large numbers of employees will be provided additional boxes in support of the RTD Gives program.
Donations will be picked up the week of Dec. 16 by the festively wrapped winter parade bus! A specific pickup schedule will be shared closer to this date.
Interesting in helping further? On Saturday, Dec. 14, the RTD team will be collecting donations from customers at Downtown Boulder, Union and Downtown Littleton stations. These stops provide an opportunity for the public to not only donate items, but also to receive RTD information and enjoy the winter parade bus in their community. Employees who volunteer will receive an RTD Gives T-shirt. Register today by visiting the RTD Gives SignUpGenius!
