What is Eco Pass?
Eco Pass is an annual photo I.D. purchased by a company. Eco Pass provides up to one calendar year of unlimited Regional, Express, Local bus and light rail service. Eco Pass holders pay $5.00 for skyRide service to Denver International Airport (DIA). Eco Passes issued by DIA employers are exempt from this fee.
The Eco Pass photo I.D. card is property of RTD and is non-transferable. RTD may confiscate the photo I.D. and/or prosecute anyone who duplicates, alters or commits unauthorized use of the card. All employees must surrender their I.D. card to their employers or RTD upon request or by their last day of work.
Eco Pass also includes the benefit of the Guaranteed Ride Home program, which provides free taxi service in the event of an emergency or an unexpected change in work schedule. Eco Pass is valid every day of the year.
Employers purchase Eco Pass for all full-time employees at the business location with the option to include part-time employees. Temporary workers, contract employees, interns, volunteers and seasonal employees, etc., are not eligible. After the Eco Pass agreement is signed by RTD and the employer, Eco Passes are then issued to employees. With a photo I.D., an employee is immediately eligible to ride RTD.
Using Eco Pass
Riding a bus or light rail with an Eco Pass is easy. Just present the pass to the bus driver when boarding or at the request of a light rail fare inspector.
Eco Pass Benefits
Eco Pass offers a number of benefits to employers and employees. Employers help to reduce parking problems and traffic congestion by providing employees with an economical employee benefit. Employers may offer transit benefits of up to $230.00 per employee per month as a pre-tax benefit to the employee and is tax deductible to the employer. Employers can also share the cost of commuting with their employees by paying for part of the transit commuter benefit and allowing employees to pay for the remainder using pre-tax dollars.
