Rad Things To Do

Rad Things (to) Do - April 2024

Austin Nettleton

The meteorologists on TV may say it’s spring, but Coloradans know that it’s actually “spring of deception,” one of Colorado’s unofficial 12 seasons, three of which exist entirely in April (“spring of deception,” “third winter,” and “The Pollening”).

While Coloradan April tries to determine exactly what season it really wants to be, the 303 is proceeding with another stacked month of concerts and sports, headlined by the Colorado Rockies kicking off their homestand April 5. Snag your RTD tickets and check out all the Rad Things (to) Do this month near bus stops and train stations!

Marquee events

April 5: Colorado Rockies Opening Day

The unofficial kickoff of the summer begins Friday when the Colorado Rockies have their first home game of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays. Head to Coors Field by catching any Union Station-bound bus or train to enjoy a great day of baseball, hot dogs and brews (and, hopefully a Rockies win)!

April 21-22: Miku EXPO 2024 presented by Crunchyroll

The world’s biggest virtual anime superstar, Hatsune Miku, is heading to the Mission Ballroom for a two-night performance featuring her greatest hits. In addition to the concert, attendees can enjoy exhibits from local and Japanese artists, workshops and other sub-events.

Hatsune Miku fans can catch the A Line to 38th•Blake Station to enjoy the show.

April 27: Monster Jam at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium

Empower Field at Mile High Stadium turns into a freestyle park of destruction and chaos April 27 as Monster Jam comes roaring into Denver. Monster Jam’s premier class takes to the dirt as the drivers compete for the Monster Jam championship.

Take the E and W lines to Empower Field at Mile High Stadium April 27 and watch the chaos unfold.

Sports

Hear that? That’s the sound of the grills firing up at Coors Field and the smells of summer begin emitting from the ballpark. That’s right, the Colorado Rockies are back in business and are looking for redemption after several lackluster seasons. Please Rockies, be decent this season.

The excitement for another Rockies season is exacerbated by both the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche punching their tickets to their respective playoffs once again. It’s about clinching their seeds now. The Avs look to redeem themselves after a first-round exit from last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, while the Nuggets aim to defend their 2023 NBA Championship and keep the Larry O’Brien Trophy here in the Mile High City.

It's a good time to be a Denver sports fan, so catch a bus or train downtown and enjoy some mile high action.
