DRMAC recognizes RTD’s inclusivity during fare study and equity analysis
RTD has been recognized by the Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council (DRMAC) for its exemplary commitment to inclusive planning during the most recent fare study and equity analysis.
The agency’s efforts were recognized Jan. 17, at a Local Coordinating Council (LCC) appreciation luncheon hosted by DRMAC that highlighted innovative solutions and partnerships contributing significantly to the improvement of transportation services in the Denver region. Welcomed to this event were key stakeholders, LCC members and project contributors, who joined in celebrating these achievements and the collaborative culture within the transportation sector.
During the fare study and equity analysis, RTD actively engaged underrepresented populations through partnerships with community-based organizations. RTD created an equity panel centering the experiences of community members, including those who were low-income, BIPOC, LGBTQ, English language learners, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, youth, seniors and people experiencing houselessness. DRMAC Executive Director Coleen Samuels represented the voices of the people DRMAC serves on the equity panel.
“RTD's dedication to fostering accessibility and equity within the transportation landscape has been commendable,” said Angel Bond, DRMAC Board member and program manager of Boulder County Mobility for All. “The fare equity panel played a pivotal role in ensuring that the transportation needs of all community members – regardless of background or circumstance – are met with thoughtful consideration and action.
“DRMAC extends a heartfelt congratulations to RTD for this well-deserved recognition and commends them for their ongoing efforts to create a more affordable, inclusive and accessible transportation system for all residents of the Denver region through the new affordable fare structure.”
