RTD Transit Police to start 24/7 patrols May 5

RTD Transit Police Department will start 24/7 patrols to enhance personal safety and security for customers and employees. With 61 sworn Transit Police officers and 19 recruits graduating in May, the force aims to reach a minimum of 119 officers by yearend as part of its efforts to create a welcoming transit environment across the district’s service area.

RTD hosting bus design contest to commemorate 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act

RTD is calling upon individuals to submit one-of-a-kind bus art designs for a bus design contest as part of the agency’s celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. Artists must submit applications and bus artwork design proposals by Friday, May 24. Full story.

East Colfax BRT project receives key funding approval, advancing the project toward construction

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) notified RTD on April 18 that the East Colfax Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project had successfully completed the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process, clearing the way to request FTA Capital Investment Grant (CIG) funds to construct the project

RTD, as the direct recipient of federal funds, is working in coordination with the City and County of Denver and the City of Aurora to implement the East Colfax BRT project, which involves BRT service along the 9.9-mile Colfax Avenue corridor that extends from Union Station in downtown Denver to the R Line Colfax Station in Aurora.
