First BRT station arch installed on East Colfax Avenue
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), RTD and project partners celebrated the installation of the first arch that will be a prominent feature of future Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stops along East Colfax Avenue. There will be 32 arches in total. The first one was installed May 6 on the eastbound BRT station platform at East Colfax Avenue and Franklin Street.
The steel arch is 21 feet tall and 87 feet long, easily seen and recognized from a distance, and providing transit riders a canopy for comfort and shade. See rendering.
BRT is expected to begin operating on East Colfax Avenue in 2027, offering an all-day, high frequency transit service, a dedicated travel lane in each direction and enhanced rider amenities. The public can sign up to receive regular project updates at www.denvergov.org/colfaxbrt.
