Fuel tanker crash impacting RTD’s light rail service on Southeast Corridor
DENVER (Nov. 28, 2025) –– The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is working to complete emergency repairs to the Yale Street bridge after a fuel tanker crashed into the structure on Thanksgiving. The non-RTD crash on Thursday afternoon damaged the bridge’s retaining wall and is continuing to impact light rail service.
At approximately 1 p.m. on Nov. 27, the fuel tanker crashed into the Yale Street bridge in Denver. The tanker was the only vehicle involved, and the crash resulted in fuel being spilled on the roadway. Multiple agencies and emergency personnel responded to the accident, and light rail service was immediately suspended in the area. The Yale Station was temporarily closed following the crash, but it has since reopened to customers.
Bus shuttles and some limited E Line service have been established along the Southeast Corridor to provide customers with continued connections. While the emergency design efforts and repair work are underway, the following provisional services are in place:
- Regular southbound E Line service between I-25•Broadway and Southmoor stations has been temporarily replaced by a combination of trains and bus shuttles. To supplement service at stations affected by the bus shuttles, Additional E Line trains are in service, operating on an amended frequency between I-25•Broadway and Southmoor stations. Southbound customers board on the northbound track at Southmoor Station.
- Regular northbound E Line service between Southmoor and I-25•Broadway stations has been temporarily replaced by shuttle service. Customers traveling downtown will need to transfer to the D Line at the I-25•Broadway Station. To supplement service at stations affected by the shuttles, some limited E Line trains will operate on a less frequent basis between Southmoor and I-25•Broadway stations. Customers board northbound E Line trains on the southbound track at Southmoor Station.
- E Line trains are operating normal service between Southmoor and RidgeGate Parkway stations.
