Operators Of The Month

Carla Osborne - March 2023 Operator of the Month

March 2023: Carla Osborne

Carla was commended by her manager for going above and beyond in insuring safe and defensive driving practices on the Free MallRide. The 16th Street Mall is considered a pedestrian zone; pedestrians on the Mall are often distracted and at times walk right in front of the bus. On 02/12/23, Carla anticipated the moves of a pedestrian that was walking erratically and avoided a collision that could have had a tragic outcome for the pedestrian. Kudos to Carla for safely and smoothly operating her Free MallRide bus, remaining calm in a difficult situation, and taking pride in being a professional bus operator.

Operator of the Month Q&A

What were you in a previous life?

In my past life, I was a beautiful hummingbird.

What do you like best about your job?

I drive on the 16th Street Mall and enjoy meeting new people and tourists visiting our Downtown Denver.

If you could listen to music while working, what type would you choose?

I would enjoy listening to jazz music and gospel music.

If you could deck out your bus, what style would it be?

I would decorate my bus in a 1970s style with colorful flowers, peace symbols, and love signs.

If you could change your uniform color, what color would you prefer?

Ocean blue would be my preferred color.

What type of service would you drive if given the choice? What is your favorite service to drive or operate?

I currently drive the Free MallRide and if I had the choice I would still drive the 16th Street Mall shuttle. A bus is a bus, but I suppose my favorite service is the Free MallRide.
