Service Delivery

Colfax reopens from Broadway to Colorado Blvd. this fall

Progress continues on time and on budget for the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. RTD and project partners are excited to open East Colfax from Broadway to Colorado Blvd. this fall. Read below for a preview of what to expect when the construction fences and cones come down in this segment.

Bus-Only lanes
In fall 2026, the two center lanes of East Colfax Avenue from Broadway to Colorado Blvd will be bus-only lanes. Passenger vehicles will travel along Colfax Avenue exclusively in the outer traffic lanes.

Left turns
When East Colfax reopens, vehicles will only be able to turn left at signalized intersections. A curb median will separate the eastbound and westbound lanes for safety. Those medians will be installed this summer, so please be aware while traveling along the corridor.

15/15L service

RTD’s 15/15L buses will continue to serve the East Colfax corridor operating in the center lanes from Broadway to Colorado Blvd. Bus Rapid Transit service will begin when construction is complete at the end of 2027.

RTD customers will board the 15/15L at the BRT’s center stations. Preview where future bus stations will be here. Additional resources to find your closest stop and an updated schedule will be shared closer to the opening. Follow updates this summer for more information on where and how to board.

Bus-only lane operations vs. BRT Service

Below outlines how the bus-only lane operations launching from Broadway to Colorado Blvd this fall will different from future Bus Rapid Transit service.
