New Westracks shuttle launches Memorial Day weekend

Getting to some of Jefferson County's most popular outdoor destinations will be easier starting this month with the launch of the new Westracks shuttle, a free seasonal service connecting customers from an RTD rail station to Red Rocks, Morrison, Dinosaur Ridge and nearby trailheads. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the shuttle will run Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Labor Day.

Designed to make outdoor recreation more accessible, the Westracks shuttle creates a convenient, car-free connection between RTD rail service and some of the foothills’ most popular attractions. Customers can take RTD’s W Line to Jefferson County Government Center•Golden Station and board the shuttle directly outside the station before exploring hiking trails, restaurants, and scenic views along the route. All vehicles are ADA accessible and wheelchair compliant, with space available for up to two bicycles per shuttle. Dogs are also welcome when kept on a leash.

Shuttle stops include:

  • Jefferson County Government Center•Golden Station
  • Matthews/Winters Park
  • Dinosaur Ridge and Deep Time Detour
  • Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre
  • Downtown Morrison
  • Morrison Natural History Museum

The Westracks shuttle pilot program was created through a regional partnership focused on improving access to recreation while helping reduce congestion and parking demand in the foothills west of Denver. RTD funding supported the launch of the service through the agency’s Partnership Program, which helps local communities develop mobility solutions that complement existing transit service and expand access across the district.

A community celebration marking the launch of the service will take place May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westracks shuttle stops. The event will feature giveaways, food, music, hands-on educational activities, and the grand-opening celebration for Dinosaur Ridge’s new Deep Time Detour experience.
