RTD Board Director Vince Buzek departing after eight years
RTD District J Board Director Vince Buzek will step down from his post effective July 17. Buzek was first elected to represent District J in November 2018, took office in January 2019, and was re-elected in 2022 for a second term beginning in January 2023. He served as Board chair in 2022.
During his time on the Board, Buzek represented the cities of Westminster, Northglenn, Federal Heights, portions of western Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams and Jefferson counties.
A Chicago native, Director Buzek grew up in a transit-dependent family and relied on public transportation throughout much of his early life.He chose to serve as a Board Director to help RTD become a world-class transit system, strengthen community and stakeholder engagement, and ensure customer priorities were being met.
Among the accomplishments he highlights from his tenure are advancing strong leadership within RTD and helping develop a fare pilot program on the N Line commuter rail. The pilot contributed to RTD’s 2024 systemwide fare restructuring, which eliminated local and regional fare zones. Buzek also played a role in launching the N Line during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After nearly eight years of service on the RTD Board, Buzek plans to spend his retirement in Southern France where he looks forward to new adventures.
A replacement for Buzek will be appointed by Adams County and sworn-in on July 28.
