DENVER (May 1, 2026) –– Some Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus routes will experience minor detours in downtown Denver this weekend due to street closures for the Cinco de Mayo “Celebrate Culture” festival, planned for 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. From Friday evening through Monday morning, the following streets will be closed:

  • Broadway from 16th Street to 13th Avenue
  • Colfax (both directions) from Cherokee Street to Lincoln Street
  • 14th Street from Court Place to E. Colfax Avenue
  • 15th Street from E. Colfax Avenue to Cleveland Place
  • Cheyenne Place from Broadway to E. Colfax Avenue

On Saturday, May 2, the Cinco de Mayo Community Parade will take place 11 a.m.-noon from just west of the City and County Building to just south of Civic Center Park.

One of Colorado’s largest cultural events, the Cinco de Mayo Festival and Parade is an annual tradition that has showcased Mexican heritage since its inception in 1988. The popular festival attracts a large cross-section of the community, including all races and cultural heritages.

RTD services will operate on a regular schedule, however, customers using affected routes should expect delays and detours during the festival and parade events, which may also impact scheduled bus and rail connections.

Bus routes

The following bus routes will have adjustments to boarding locations or minor detours around the weekend events: 0, 0L, 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 16, 19, 44, 48, 52, 83, and 83L.
