No tricks, just treats! Celebrate Halloween at two East Colfax BRT arch lift watch parties
The East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is hitting another milestone, and RTD, Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), and partners are inviting the public to join in on the celebration. On Thursday, Oct. 30, two local businesses will host community watch parties for the next arch installations at upcoming BRT stations along East Colfax Avenue.
The first event, the Madison Street Arch Lift Watch Party, kicks off at Mama Jo’s Biscuits and BBQ from 7 to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy food, wine, and beer courtesy of the Bluebird District. In the spirit of Halloween, attendees are encouraged to come in costume and participate in a themed contest with prizes for “Best Colfax Costume” and “Best Overall Costume.” Winners will be announced following the arch lift.
The celebration continues down the street at Tight End Bar from 10 p.m. to midnight for the Franklin Street Arch Lift Watch Party, featuring more local treats and refreshments while supplies last. Both events invite guests to post a photo to social media, tag #WeBackTheFAX, and enter for a chance to win $50 in Colfax Cash for supporting neighborhood businesses.
These arch lifts mark another visible sign of progress for the East Colfax BRT project, which is transforming one of Denver’s busiest corridors to feature center-running bus lanes, enhanced stations, and faster, more reliable service. The distinctive 21-foot-tall, 87-foot-long steel arches will provide shade and serve as recognizable landmarks when BRT service launches in 2027.
Community members are also encouraged to provide feedback on the future of bus travel between I-225 and E-470. The Colfax BRT Next Community Survey is open through Nov. 7. Click here to take the survey.
