RTD Board of Directors elects new chair and officers, swears in new member during Tuesday meeting

DENVER (Jan. 7, 2026) –– The Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors swore in one new Board director and elected its new chair and executive committee officers Tuesday night, Jan. 6, during a special Board of Directors meeting.

RTD is governed by a 15-member, publicly elected Board of Directors, each of whom is elected to a four-year term and represents a specific district within the RTD service area. Board members elect officers each year to serve on the executive committee.

The newly appointed Board member sworn in is:

Cindy Arcuri, District N, which is entirely in Jefferson County and serves unincorporated Jefferson County as well as the communities of Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison, Willow Springs, Ken-Caryl Ranch and portions of Arapahoe County including the town of Columbine Valley. She was appointed by the Jefferson County Commissioners on a 2-0 vote with one absent after the position was vacated by former Board member Peggy Catlin. Arcuri's appointment will last through the 2026 General Election and subsequent swearing in of a successor.

The executive committee officers elected for 2026 are:

Chair, Patrick O’Keefe, District H, which includes Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Littleton, Columbine Valley, and Highlands Ranch.

First Vice Chair, Ian Harwick, District L, which includes all of Arvada, a small portion of Westminster, unincorporated southwest Adams County, and a portion of unincorporated Jefferson County.

Second Vice Chair, Chris Gutschenritter, District D, which includes Bow Mar, Englewood and Sheridan; portions of south Denver, southeast Lakewood, and northern Littleton; and portions of unincorporated Arapahoe and Jefferson counties.

Treasurer, Karen Benker, District I, which includes Lafayette, all of Broomfield and Erie, most of Longmont, a portion of Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams County and Boulder County.

Secretary, Chris Nicholson, District A, which includes portions of downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, Glendale, and Lowry.
