Proposed January 2027 Service Changes
RTD’s Proposed January Service Changes are designed to further enhance and strengthen RTD’s transit network by refining service, improving reliability, and better aligning resources with customer needs.
Scheduled to take effect January 3, 2027, the proposals include a mix of service enhancements, restorations and optimizations informed by customer feedback, service performance, and operational needs.
Several proposed enhancements are seeking Clean Transit Enterprise (CTE) grant funding and would restore service consistent with the System Optimization Plan (SOP). Other recommendations optimize and reallocate existing resources to address operational needs while maintaining an overall cost-neutral Service Change.

Proposed January 2027 Service Changes
0B - South Broadway
Service Increase, Schedule Timing
Proposed Change
Increase weekday frequency to 15 minutes from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Reason
Provide more frequent service during periods of higher customer demand.
131 - Iliff Street
Service Increase
Proposed Change
Restore service in accordance with the System Optimization Plan (SOP) recommendation.
Reason
Implement the System Optimization Plan recommendation to restore service and expand travel options along the corridor.
AB3 - Boulder / Denver Airport (DEN via 28th St)
Service Reduction
Proposed Change
Replace Saturday AB3 trips with AB2 trips, maintaining and increasing AB service along 28th Street in Boulder.
Reason
Replacing Saturday AB3 trips with AB2 trips would provide additional transit access to Boulder Junction and give customers more options for parking and connecting to service, while maintaining existing AB service along 28th Street. The change would also help reduce bus overcrowding at Downtown Boulder Station.

Lincoln Station – Alameda Station

Discontinue T Line service, which currently operates between Lincoln Station and Alameda Station.
Reason
Increase service reliability of other rail lines operating between Alameda and Lincoln stations by reducing service conflicts along the corridor.

Union Station – JeffCo Gov't Center•Golden Station

Change
Minor changes to weekday, Saturday and Sunday/Holiday schedules.
Reason
Improve on-time performance, service reliability, and operating conditions while reducing track conflicts with other rail lines.

Return service to the former peak-only level, eliminating midday service provided to reduce impacts related to the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project.
Reason
Align service levels with the completion of the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project and current operating needs.

Expand access to the 136th Outlet Mall area and provide additional connections for customers in Thornton.

Extend service span to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays, as identified in the System Optimization Plan (SOP).

Sunday service would operate every 30 minutes from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and every 60 minutes from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Combined with AB1 service, these changes would provide 20-minute frequency at Table Mesa Station for most of the day on weekdays and 30-minute frequency on weekends.
