RTD, Power Ahead Colorado inspire smart climate choices on Earth Day
The event encouraged 98 customers to opt for sustainable transit while spotlighting energy-efficiency resources from Power Ahead Colorado and the City and County of Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR). Attendees browsed information booths, picked up free LED light bulbs provided by Power Ahead Colorado, and learned about how heat pumps can be part of Colorado’s energy future through the Power Ahead Colorado program.
"Power Ahead Colorado is delighted to help celebrate Earth month by spreading awareness about heat pumps,” said Emily Loker, senior community engagement specialist at Power Ahead Colorado. “Heat pumps are energy-efficient appliances that can both heat and cool your home, keeping you and your family comfortable in every season.”
The City of Denver shared updates on funding opportunities, grant programs and resources to help homeowners and renters make their homes safer, more comfortable, and more sustainable. Visitors asked questions, collected educational materials, and learned how to apply for assistance supporting energy improvements.
Alexandra Neira, RTD’s discount programs market development supervisor emphasized the importance of the agency’s EcoPass in maintaining a sustainable lifestyle.
“By providing unlimited access to buses and trains, the EcoPass helps reduce congestion, lower emissions, and create more connected communities,” she said.
By combining public transit with home energy education, RTD and Power Ahead Colorado underscored a shared commitment to reducing greenhouse gases through everyday choices—whether on the platform or at home.
