Aurora community members invited to share input on Colfax BRT Next study

Community members in Aurora will have two opportunities in October to learn about the Colfax BRT Next study and provide feedback on the future of bus rapid transit (BRT) along East Colfax Avenue.

A virtual webinar is scheduled for 7–8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. The session will feature a presentation on the study, potential design options and opportunities for public input. Spanish interpretation will be available. Attendees are required to register in advance here.

Additionally, an in-person community open house will take place from 4:30–7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at East Middle School, 1275 Fraser St., Aurora. Attendees can review design concepts, talk directly with project staff and share feedback. Refreshments, childcare and Spanish interpretation will be provided.

The Colfax BRT Next study, launched in late 2024, is examining future bus rapid transit service between RTD’s Colfax Station at Interstate 225 and Picadilly Road/E-470. The study is funded and managed by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) in partnership with the city of Aurora, Arapahoe and Adams counties, RTD and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Project Study Area

Once implemented, the project would expand fast, frequent and reliable BRT along East Colfax, connecting with the East Colfax BRT line currently under construction between Denver and Aurora. The study will identify a locally preferred alternative and outline next steps for funding and implementation.

The study is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025 and is part of DRCOG’s 2050 Regional Transportation Plan, which calls for a regional BRT network across the Denver metro area.
