Rad Things To Do

Rad Things (to) Do - November 2025

Austin Nettleton

Halloween may be over, but November brings its own sets of impending and unspeakable horrors that signal the inevitable arrival of one of the most feared sounds for retail workers and shoppers alike across the world–Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” However, the slow yet unstoppable thawing of Mariah Carey from the glaciers of the Hollywood Hills won’t be enough to stop Denverites from celebrating the start of the holiday season in the greatest place on the planet to do so – Denver, Colorado.

Break out the sweaters and coats, carve a Casa Bonita-inspired pumpkin, and drive to the airport and make a seasonal offering for Blucifer, and get ready to have another event-filled holiday season in the Mile High City.

NOTE: Due to the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project, some transit options may be temporarily changed or unavailable. These changes are reflected below. Customers living in the southern metro can still access these events via light rail by taking the D Line to Union Station. For the latest updates, subscribe to Service Alerts and bookmark the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project webpage at https://www.rtd-denver.com/railproject.

Festivals, major concert series, parades and other special events

There’s a reason why Denver is considered one of the best cities in North America to celebrate the holidays. The sheer number of holiday-themed markets, light shows, and activities in November and December would make Santa himself jealous. Big holiday happenings this month include the Mile High United Turkey Trot, Denver Christkindlmarket, Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo, and Elitch Holidays at Elitch Gardens. Of course, nothing kicks off the holiday season quite like the Grand Illumination of Union Station, which takes place Nov. 28.

While it may be the month of the turkey, there are several major non-holiday-themed events that will put Denver in the national spotlight.

During Nov. 7-16, Denver Arts Week takes over Denver with free and discounted events at many of the city’s art galleries and museums, attracting art lovers from all over the United States. Nov. 14, RTD’s friends at Eldora Mountain Resort kick off their 2025-2026 ski season, getting the lifts spinning for eager skiers and snowboarders of the metro area looking to stay far away from I-70 resorts this winter. A few days later, on Nov. 18, one of America’s longest-running game shows takes the stage at the Paramount Theatre when Wheel of Fortune Live comes to town.

Things ramp up on Nov. 21 at Ball Arena, when the biggest stars of professional wrestling throw down in the ring in a nationally televised live broadcast of WWE Friday Night Smackdown." In the chill of Thanksgiving morning, take to the streets of Denver’s southern neighborhoods and prepare for that turkey while raising money and awareness for a good cause at the Mile High United Way’s annual Turkey Trot, offered in 5K and 10K distances. To wrap up the month, head to Ball Arena Nov. 29 to watch one of collegiate hockey’s most prestigious in-season exhibition games, as the University of Denver Pioneers men’s hockey team hosts the 2025 United States Hockey Hall of Fame Game against the University of Minnesota.

Sports

Well, October was certainly a mixed bag for Denver’s sports teams.

Let’s get the doom and gloom out of the way first. In Boulder, Coach Prime still cannot wrangle in his injury-ridden Colorado Buffaloes football squad, leaving the team sitting with a paltry 3-5 record (1-4 record in the Big 12 Conference) on the season and at risk of not becoming bowl game eligible for the fourth time in five years. In Commerce City, the Colorado Rapids failed to make the Major League Soccer Cup playoffs, just being knocked out eligibility by FC Dallas in the final week of the regular season. Not a great month for fans of the Buffs and the Rapids.

Thankfully, things are looking much better for the teams that reside in downtown Denver. The Colorado Avalanche have come out of the gate red hot with a 7-1 record to start the 2025-2026 NHL season and are standing on the top step of the Central Division, led by generational performances by Nathan MacKinnon. Avs housemates, the Denver Nuggets, are also off to a respectable start to the 2025-2026 NBA season, although it could be better. The Nuggets sit in sixth place to end the first couple of weeks of the season with a 3-2 record, thanks in large part to Nikola Jokic’s chronic addiction to earning triple doubles.

However, just across Interstate 25, there is a stampede taking place, one that continues to get stronger and more powerful each and every week: the Denver Broncos, led by none other than the kid himself, Bo Nix. The Broncos currently sit in the driver’s seat of the AFC West division with an 8-2 record on the season. No, your eyes are not deceiving you and you are not living in a simulation. The Broncos are leading the AFC West ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders. Now, somebody tell the Waltons to go ahead and build the Bo Nix statue outside of the stadium.

In addition to homestands for the Nuggets and Avalanche, and two home games this month for the Broncos against two division rivals, sports fans will be able to watch a live national broadcast of WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown on the USA Network, featuring WWE’s top superstars as well as see the University of Denver Pioneers men’s hockey team take on the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game.

Speaking of the University of Denver, the men’s hockey team, as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams, are all in action this month on DU’s campus. In Boulder, the Buffs men’s and women’s basketball teams also take to the hardwood to begin their 20205-2026 seasons.

It’s a great time to be a sports fan in Denver, so gear up, hop on board, and let RTD do the driving to the games.

Live theatre and musicals

With November being the start of the holiday season, it’s no surprise that the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is bringing another loaded month of world-class productions to the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This month, the six-time Tony Award-winning musical, Disney’s “The Lion King,” continues to captivate audiences at the Buell Theatre until Nov. 16. Shortly after that, international percussion sensation, “STOMP,” will bring its unique and explosive blend of percussion, dance, and acrobatics to the Buell Theatre Nov. 19-22. At the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the Colorado Ballet will be performing its rendition of “The Nutcracker” Nov. 29-Dec. 28. The Wolf Theatre hosts a musical rendition of a Christmas staple, “A Christmas Carol,” with performances taking place at various times Nov. 21-Dec. 28. Lastly, “Goodnight Moon” continues its run of shows through Jan. 25, 2026, at the Randy Weeks Conservatory Theatre.

Pentatonix - "Hallelujah"

The world's most prolific acapella group, Pentatonix, takes the stage at Ball Arena this month to welcome in the holiday season while performing their greatest hits.

Bryan Adams - "Summer of '69"

It might be almost winter, but when Bryan Adams comes to town, it's suddenly summer again. Catch him at the Ball Arena this month as he performs his iconic discography live and in-person.

John Legend - "Love Me Now"

John Legend has certainly lived up to his namesake. Billons of streams, millions of albums sold and his songs have been enjoyed by millions across the world, and now it's Denver's turn to enjoy a night with him in an intimate setting at the Paramount Theatre this month.

The Mars Volta - "Inertiatic ESP"

The Mars Volta amassed a cult following throughout the 2000s for blurring the lines between alternative and post-hardcore, creating a unique sound that sent listeners into a trance. Head over to the Mission Ballroom later this month to see them live and see why they are one-of-one.

Portugal. The Man - "Feel It Still"

If one was to ask Mr. Krabs if he's feeling it now, he'd probably start singing the lyrics to "Feel It Still." Portugal. The Man has been dropping alternative hits for roughly two decades, but there was no escaping "Feel It Still" when it came out. There's still no escaping it. Embrace the song that found its way into every speaker in the 2010s and head over to the Mission Ballroom to see Portugal. The Man live.

Fit For A King - "No Tomorrow"

Fit For A King has certainly lived up to their name, joining the ranks of metalcore royalty. The five-piece band from Dallas, Texas has spent nearly the past two decades touring the world and writing thought-provoking songs that will turn anyone's living room into a mosh pit. They perform at the Fillmore Nov. 9 in support of their new album, "Lonely God." out now on Solid State Records.

Minus The Bear - "Knights"

Minus The Bear have spent the past two decades amassing a cult following while dropping catchy alternative hits left and right. Don't miss your chance to see them at the Ogden Nov. 21-22.

Thrice - "Black Honey"

Emo, alternative, rock, punk... Thrice doesn't fit within a single genre. Over the past 20+ years, Thrice has stayed true to their sound and has created quite the following while doing so. Don't miss them when they perform at the Summit Nov. 13.
