Rad Things (to) Do - September 2025
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong once said, “Wake me up when September ends.” Obviously, Armstrong was not talking about September 2025, because anyone living in the Denver metro area who sleeps through this month is missing out on what could possibly be the best month of the year for concerts, sports and festivals. So, crack open a can (or five) of Monster Energy and stay awake all month long, as there is no time to waste with this month’s Rad Things (to) Do.
NOTE: Due to the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project, transit options may be temporarily changed or unavailable for the duration of the project. These changes have been reflected below. When it comes to electronic dance music (EDM) scenes, Denver stands in the upper echelon of cities who love electronic music. Not only is Denver the home of many of the biggest names in electronic music like Illenium, Said the Sky, CloZee, Big Gigantic, GRiZ, Mersive and Pretty Lights, but it is a true bucket-list destination for the scene’s biggest international DJs to perform. So, when Global Dance Festival abruptly canceled this summer, Denver was left with an electronic music festival void in the calendar. Well, that void closes later this month when the Day Trip Block Party takes over The JunkYard Sept. 27. Headlined by none other than GRAMMY Award-winning DJ and EDM phenom Diplo, Day Trip will turn what is traditionally an industrial area into the hottest nightclub in the Rockies.
Check out this year’s lineup below and snag tickets today before they sell out!

- Diplo

Sports
When the morning alarm beeps and it is time to wake up for whatever the day may bring, take a moment to look out to the eastern plains to witness a phenomenon that only takes place September through February in Denver… The light breaks the plains of eastern Colorado, rising up behind the glowing red eyes of Blucifer to illuminate the slopes of the foothills. For those outside of Denver, they may think that’s just the sun rising. But here in the Mile High City, it’s more than that. It’s the light of the sun amplified by Peyton Manning’s forehead, draping the city in an orange and blue hue as the sounds of Bo Nix and the Broncos storm into Empower Field at Mile High this month to begin what is their most anticipated campaign since The Sheriff himself led the ponies to the promised land in 2015.
That’s right, Denver. The Broncos are back, and this time, the hype is real. Bo Nix, who, last year, led the Broncos to their first playoff appearance since that fateful year when Peyton and company lifted the Lombardi Trophy, is ready for redemption in his second year under center. Are you ready for some football?!
While the focus is on the Denver Broncos this month, in Boulder, Deion Sanders looks to build on the momentum carried in from last year’s 9-4 record and get the University of Colorado Buffaloes back into the Big 12 title fight and the College Football Playoff discussion. The Buffs narrowly lost their home opener to Georgia Tech in August, so all eyes will be on Prime and company to see how they bounce back. On the topic of college athletics, the University of Denver Pioneers men’s and women’s soccer teams take to the pitch to continue their 2025 season with several home games each throughout September.
Trading the pigskin for a frozen rubber disc, the Colorado Avalanche take to the ice in Ball Arena later this month for some preseason action as the Avs look to bounce back from a first-round exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs at the hands of the Dallas Stars earlier this year and get their hands on Lord Stanley’s Cup in 2026. The Avs will take on Utah, Dallas and Las Vegas to shake off the cobwebs before the regular NHL season kicks off in October.
Speaking of October, the Spirit Halloween banner is already getting ready to go up at Coors Field as the Colorado Rockies won’t be occupying the ballpark next month. Granted, they haven’t really occupied the ballpark at all this season. That’s right, the worst season in franchise history is finally coming to a cathartic end. Hang in there, all five of you Rockies fans. The nightmares will be over soon. For those who want to get in the Halloween spirit early by watching the final act of the Colorado “Rockies” Horror Picture Show, the ballclub hosts the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Angels for two last homestands before the gates at Coors Field shut for the season.
Check out this month’s slate of sports action below, and don’t forget to leave out Casa Bonita gift cards for Sean Payton on the nightstand tonight.

At the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, gamers are in for a huge treat as the soundtrack to the hit indie game Stardew Valley is performed live by a 35-piece orchestra. Additionally, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance institution will kick off its 55th season at the opera house with Bolero, a story told through dance that explores dynamic relationships through partnering.

Concerts
It might just be the final month of the summer concert season, but Denver is not letting the summer go out without a bang. An unfathomably stacked slate of concerts awaits the music lovers of the Mile High City. Heavy hitters from nearly every genre of music take to the many stages across the metro area for what will surely be remembered as one of the best months for live music this year, all headlined by two of pop music’s most popular superstars, Tate McRae and Benson Boone.
Hip-hop heads and R&B lovers, a massive month awaits with a back-to-back one-two punch of Ice Cube and NBA YoungBoy at the Ball Arena, the latter bringing fellow modern hip-hop heavyweights Offset, Toosii and DeeBaby in tow, followed up by R&B sensation Kali Uchis performing her hits for the masses. Other notable rappers/R&B artists taking to the stages across the metro this month include Rico Nasty, Caskey and Aminé.
Fans of alternative and indie music will have the opportunity to enjoy performances from some of the genres biggest acts, such as Ben Folds, X Ambassadors, Everclear, D4VD, Royel Otis, I Don’t Know How But They Found Me and Passion Pit, just to name a few.
Of course, there can’t be a Mile High Summer finale without EDM, and thankfully, some of the biggest DJs in the scene are passing through and closing out the summer with booming bass drops. Notable DJs performing this month include Diplo, Above & Beyond, Walker & Royce, Noizu and Dombresky.
For those who like it loud and rowdy, September’s slate of punk, rock and metal will have every rocker, mosher, punk and metalhead needing a neck chiropractor by the month’s end. Some of rock music’s most iconic artists and bands will be performing this month across Denver, such as Deftone, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Marylin Manson, Chevelle, Mudvayne, Static-X and 10 Years. For those who prefer their slice of rock complete with mohawks, Vans and denim vests, modern and classic punk and hardcore mainstays such as Turnstile, Alkaline Trio, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Hives, The Struts and Wargasm will be orchestrating citywide circle pits for those who dare to enter. However, Denver’s metalheads might have it made the most this month, as the biggest names in metal representing the genre’s many subgenres will be taking things to eleven. Headlined by metalcore royalty Bring Me The Horizon and Motionless In White, metalheads will be able to rage with performances by The Callous Daoboys, Born Of Osiris, Landmvrks, Alestorm, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Walls Of Jericho, just to name a few.

Benson Boone - "Beautiful Things"
Benson Boone's meteoric rise over the 2020s has led him to the top of the radio and Billboard charts, as well as a GRAMMY nomination and feature performance. He heads to Ball Arena Sept. 22 for an unforgettable night.
Bring Me The Horizon - "Sleepwalking"
From their humble beginnings in deathcore to becoming a globally-renown act in the heavy music sphere, the UK's Bring Me The Horizon headlines their first ever American arena tour, bringing down the Ball Arena Sept. 29 with fellow metalcore heavyweights Motionless In White and The Plot In You, as well as shoegaze/nu-metal up-and-comer Amira Elfeky in tow.
Breaking Benjamin - "Awaken"
When it comes to hard rock bands, there are seldom few more iconic and beloved than Breaking Benjamin. The hard rocking five-piece band has provided the soundtracks to millions of Millenials and Gen Xers across the globe. Now, they are teaming up with fellow internationally-renowed hard rock cohorts Three Days Grace for one of the most incredible tours of the 2020s. See Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace live at Fiddler's Green on Sept. 25.
Turnstile - "HOLIDAY"
Hardcore heavyweights, Turnstile, have exploded into the mainstream over the past couple of years, thanks to the viral success of their hit song, "HOLIDAY." Now, fresh off the release of their new album, "NEVER ENOUGH," they head to Denver Sept. 30 to break in the metro's newest (and arguably most unique) music venue, Project 70. Now that is a holiday.
The Hives - "Hate To Say I Told You So"
Swedish garage rock and punk act, The Hives, has been at it since the early-90s. With no signs of slowing down, the band takes to the stage at the Ogden on Sept. 12.
The Callous Daoboys - "Distracted By The Mona Lisa"
Music is a sport and, unlike the Dallas Cowboys, The Callous Daoboys have experienced quite the meteoric rise within the heavy music world. The six-piece mathcore outfit hits the stage at a sold-out Hi-Dive Sept. 24 in support of their hit new album, "I Don't Want To See You In Heaven."
I Dont Know How But They Found Me - "Infatuation"
With how tasty the jams of Salt Lake City's Dallon Weekes are, it's no secret how people keep finding him, despite the name of his act being I Dont Know How But They Found Me, or IDKHow, for short. After the successful release of his latest album, "Gloom Division," last year, IDKHow heads back to the metro for a night at the Fox Theatre on the hill in Boulder Sept. 10.
