RTD’s Next Ride app now features ability to indicate bus occupancy

Tina Jaquez

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) has deployed a new feature on its Next Ride application that will provide customers with an indication of how occupied a bus may be at any given time.

To use the new feature, customers should visit Next Ride (app.rtd-denver.com), choose the “Commute” button on the home screen, select a bus from the list, and view the “How busy is this bus” interface. The Bus Occupancy statuses will display four “people” icons that are filled-in solid or transparent. The more solid people icons the fuller the bus. The statuses used include:

  • Quiet
  • Mildly Full
  • Moderately Full
  • Very Full
  • Crowded

RTD Next Ride is available in English, Spanish and Chinese, with Vietnamese and Russian currently in beta testing.

RTD is committed to releasing enhancements that customers request to improve its Next Ride solution for all. Customers can provide feedback or request enhancements to Next Ride by visiting
https://app.rtd-denver.com/feedback or clicking Feedback in the Next Ride navigation menu.
