RTD to close Niwot Park-n-Ride lot, bus stops at Highway 52 as construction begins on CO 119 Bus Rapid Transit project between Boulder and Longmont

RTD will temporarily close the Niwot Park-n-Ride lot and permanently close the north- and southbound CO 119 bus stops at CO 52 beginning Sept. 29 as construction on the CO 119 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project gets underway between Boulder and Longmont. The bus stops at the Niwot Park-n-Ride will remain open.

When it reopens in May 2027, the Niwot Park-n-Ride will include platforms for the new BRT service, a larger parking lot with lighting and security cameras, secure bike parking, and access to the newly constructed bikeway.

The northbound and southbound CO 119 bus stops at CO 52 will permanently close Sept. 29 to facilitate reconstruction of the intersection to include new BRT bus platforms and access to the new bikeway. Temporary stops were not warranted at this location due to lack of available ADA compliant stop locations. The next closest bus stops served by the BOLT bus are at 63rd Street to the south of CO 52 and Monarch or Niwot to the north.

The CO 119 BRT project will optimize regional connectivity and mobility between Boulder and Longmont by providing improvements that result in faster, safer and more reliable transit travel.

RTD is partnering with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Boulder County to integrate the CO 119 BRT project with other active multimodal projects on the corridor to ensure community members can safely and reliably travel throughout the corridor using their mode(s) of choice.
