East Colfax BRT team to host open house in Aurora
The East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project team, City of Aurora, and Regional Transportation District (RTD) will host a community open house on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Manos Sagrados, 9975 E. Colfax Ave., in Aurora.
The open house will give residents, businesses, and customers a chance to learn more about the project, see what’s coming next, and ask questions directly of project staff. Construction is expected to begin in Aurora this spring, in continuation of work already underway in Denver.
The East Colfax BRT project plans to replace RTD's existing 15 and 15L routes with a center-running system designed to improve reliability and reduce travel times. Once complete, the project is expected to save customers up to 30 minutes traveling between Denver Union Station and the Colfax Station at Colfax Avenue and I-225.
Construction on the corridor began in 2024 following more than a decade of community planning and input. Station arch installations continue to mark visible progress, with 17 arches now complete along East Colfax as work advances east toward Aurora. Full BRT service is expected to begin in 2028.
