Rad Things To Do

Rad Things (to) Do - April 2026

Austin Nettleton

Well, it looks like Old Man Winter just decided to play hooky this year. That means April is now the unofficial start of summer. This also means it’s time for the Colorado Rockies to return to Coors Field and, much like Norman Osborne resisting the urge to put on the Green Goblin mask as it’s talking to him in the hit 2002 movie, “Spider-Man,” the author must refrain from making jokes about the Rockies for the next six months.

Since it’s basically summer now, it’s time to bust out the shorts, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and take advantage of the weather and enjoy a stacked month full of Rad Things (to) Do!

THE PRIMER

April’s event calendar across the metro is absolutely loaded. Baseball returns to the Mile High City, playoff hype is peaking, concerts galore, dance competitions, comedy shows... yeah, a lot is going on in the 303 this month. Trying to decide what to go to might leave one in a bit of a pickle. No need to brine on what to do any longer, as RTD has a breakdown of the key events to circle on the calendar. Let’s crack open this jar.

Nothing goes better with the fake summer more than sports, and there are a lot of them happening at once in April. All eyes will be on the Colorado Rockies these first few weeks of the new Major League Baseball season as they look to rebound big time from one of the worst seasons in not just franchise history, but ALL of baseball history. Coors Field, often called Denver’s finest sports bar, will once again be packed to the rafters as Rockies faithful will be eager to get a first look at the 2026 squad when the team takes to the home diamond on opening day April 3.

On the other side of downtown at Ball Arena, the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets have secured their spots in their respective playoffs, with both the NHL and NBA playoffs beginning April 18. Additionally, the Colorado Mammoth take to the turf April 3 against the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in a Major League Lacrosse showdown.

Just across Interstate 25, Empower Field at Mile High Stadium will be overflowing for the highly anticipated Major League Soccer matchup between the Colorado Rapids and Inter Miami CF, featuring none other than arguably the greatest soccer player in the world, Lionel Messi, as the Rapids celebrate their 30th season as a club in North America’s highest level of professional soccer.

For those who love to dance, two events take center stage that will showcase the finest dancers in the world competing for glory. First, some of the most elite breakdancers take to the hardwood at the Boettcher Concert Hall to compete in Red Bull’s BC One Cypher April 3. Then, on April 12, head to the Bellco Theater to see TV’s most popular dance competition, Dancing With The Stars, live and in person!

Normally, this would be a good time to say things are heating up with the concert slate this month. However, it’s already in the 80s and 90s, so that metaphor doesn’t hit as well. What does hit is how loud the 303 will be throughout April, with arguably the most loaded concert calendar of the year so far. K-pop icons TWICE brings a slice of South Korea to the Ball Arena for the venue’s only show of the month. Also taking place this month is a visit from the world’s most prolific anime hyperpop star, Hatsune Miku, at the Mission Ballroom on April 15, and the first outdoor concert of the year with Ganja White Night’s two-day dance extravaganza, “Cloud City Music Festival,” at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre April 17-18. Other notable acts passing through this month include LANY, HEALTH, MXPX, Disclosure, Bilmuri, The Maine, Snow Tha Product, Currents, Free Throw, Thursday, Pete Yorn, and AFI.

It’s not just music taking center stage on the concert front this month, as many comedians, podcasters, and prolific public figures are making stops around Denver all month long, including Mel Robbins, SMOSH, Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, Dropout, and Adam Ray, all headlined by none other than the former vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, as she sits down with attendees at the Bellco Theatre April 2 to share her story.

To prevent this from turning into a 15-page research paper, that’s enough yapping for now. Take a look at the full slate of events happening within walking distance of RTD stops and stations at some of the metro’s finest venues.
