RTD welcomes winter cyclists at Winter Bike to Work Day
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) joined cyclists during a surprisingly mild Friday morning near 17th and Market for Winter Bike to Work Day, a semi-annual event organized by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
The celebration encourages Coloradans to embrace winter weather and discover the benefits of biking year-round. RTD’s Community Engagement Team greeted more than 80 people at its booth, offering hot coffee, and hosting a bike-and-transit-themed trivia game. Participants also shared feedback on RTD routes, helping the agency better understand customer needs
“Biking and riding transit are great ways to spend a little time outside my social bubble,” said participant Kiernan Maletsky. “[Winter] Bike to Work Day is a great chance to learn a little more about my fellow commuters, while also restocking on bike bells and stickers.”
Winter Bike to Work Day is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable transportation options and reduce congestion across the region. For those who combine biking with transit, RTD makes it easy: all buses and trains are equipped with bike racks or storage areas, creating a seamless way to travel throughout the district.
