RTD previews upcoming Downtown Rail Reconstruction project for media

Monday General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson previewed the upcoming Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project for the media. The project starts Sunday along with the upcoming service changes. Throughout the summer months, crews will work on five intersections reconstructing decaying rail that has lived its lifespan of 30 years. Light rail service opened on Oct. 7, 1994. Buses, trucks and traffic over the years have taken a toll on the tracks. This work, along with the ongoing Coping Panel Project on the Southeast Corridor, will impact service to light rail so customers should be aware of service changes that will take effect on Sunday.
