The Diversity Spotlight, officially launched in 2023, is an ongoing initiative that celebrates the rich diversity of the communities RTD serves. Through this initiative, the Civil Rights Division highlights the achievements and contributions of individuals and groups from various cultural, ethnic, gender-diverse, disability, and professional backgrounds. The goal is to foster an inclusive environment that champions diversity, equity, and social impact across multiple platforms, including social media, internal Inside Connections articles, News Stop articles, and special observance events.
By sharing these stories and their cultural significance, we aim to inspire RTD employees and community members, promote understanding, and increase awareness of the diverse lived experiences that shape both our workforce and the communities we serve. The Diversity Spotlight underscores RTD's commitment to cultivating an equitable, inclusive transportation system that honors each person's unique perspective and fosters a sense of belonging, both within the organization and beyond.

Resilience and Reinvention - Women’s History Month Panel Discussion
The 2026 Diversity Spotlight focuses on Resilience and Reinvention, a live panel discussion that centers on navigating change, overcoming professional challenges, and discovering new opportunities. The panel—featuring RTD employees from diverse backgrounds—will share firsthand insights into adapting, thriving in times of transition, and redefining success. This event was streamed internally and live on YouTube.

Transit Equity Day
Transit Equity Day Special News Conference
Transit Equity Day is a National Day of Action to commemorate the birthday of Rosa Parks by declaring that public transit is a civil right. RTD's Zero Fare for Transit Equity Day initiative presents an exciting opportunity to honor the legacy of Rosa Parks and other civil rights pioneers that dedicated their lives to the cause of human rights and truly embodied the love of humanity and freedom. Through community discussions and educational initiatives, Transit Equity Day will underscore RTD's dedication to ensuring that every individual has the freedom to move with access to safe, reliable, and affordable transit services.
35th ADA Anniversary
35 Years of Progress: ADA Past, Present, and Future
RTD commemorated the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, a landmark piece of legislation that transformed the accessibility landscape across public services, including transportation. This event highlighted the courageous acts and pivotal moments that occurred both before and after the passage of this landmark law, as well as RTD's continued efforts to ensure equal access and opportunities for individuals with disabilities, furthering our mission to create a more inclusive and accessible transit system.
